Tokyo, October 3, 2012 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) is providing Myanmar’s new commercial broadcaster, Myanmar Album Media Services Co., Ltd. (MAMS), with digital TV broadcasting transmitters through one of the country’s leading system integrators, RedLink Communications Co., Ltd. (RedLink).
MAMS was established in 2009 and secured a digital TV broadcasting license in 2011. That same year, it began broadcasting both free and pay-per-view programs to thirteen major cities, including the capital city of Naypyidaw. With the launch of digital broadcasting, high quality, multi-channel services are now available.
MAMS is utilizing NEC’s cutting edge DTU-52 and DTL-10 digital TV broadcasting transmitters, both of which support the world’s major digital broadcasting standards, including DVB-T (*1). These eco-friendly models occupy a smaller footprint and consume less power when compared to previous ones due to the adoption of new power amplifiers and the latest LDMOS (*2) RF power transistors.

NEC’s technologies and know-how in providing dependable, cutting-edge equipment and systems for broadcasters and carriers have been applied in 110 countries spanning more than 80 years. NEC began providing digital TV broadcasting transmitters for international markets in 1997, when it provided equipment for the world’s first commercial terrestrial digital broadcasting service in the United Kingdom. Since then, NEC has shipped more than 3,100 transmitters to 45 countries throughout the world.
Going forward, NEC will capitalize on its domestic and international accomplishments in order to continue providing broadcasters and carriers worldwide with innovative new digital broadcasting transmitters and video solutions.
