Malaysia has to carefully plan the usage of energy in order to achieve the green energy agenda, says a Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) lecturer.
Prof Zainal Alimuddin Zainal Alauddin of School of Mechanical Engineering said the source of energy could be renewed to ensure concerns on energy environmental issues were on the right track.
He said the findings on energy research has to be coupled with the industry or power generator to make green energy agenda crystallise.
"The role has to be played by various stakeholders namely the ministry, universities, industries and community," he said in his general lecture during his appointment as a professor, at the auditorium of Engineering Campus of USM, entitled "Solid Biomass Energy Potential as a Source of Sustainable Energy to Reduce the Impact of the World Energy Crisis and Enviromental Pullution."
He said as an incentive the government should direct the Energy Commission and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to help the success of renewable energy by issuing licenc to independent power producers and purchase energy at a reasonable rate.
Zainal Alimuddin who was appointed as professor last year said biomass energy was the highest potential source to the renewable energy sources.
Meanwhile Prof Mohd Zulkifly Abdullah who was appointed as a professor in 2010, in his paper entitled "Dynamic Computing Fluids: Applications and Challenges in Microelectronics Industry" said rapid development of mobile electronic devices such as iPad, iPhone, tablet and laptop has led to smaller and high capacity compact of integration circuit (IC) package.
He said the reduction on the size of IC package provides a great challenge to the engineers and designers to maintain their reliability. (BERNAMA)
